During the convention Gwendolyn Massey will be crowned queen of the Texas Pecan Growers Associatio.1 Vivian Morris Aston Passed Away Thurs. Mrs. Vivian Morris Aston of Ft. Worth passed away at her home Thursday night, March 28. She had known of her serious illness for some time but did not tell her family until after the first of the year.

Six weeks ago she visited her aunts Miss Emma Morris, Mrs. Carl Raupe and her uncle, Jake Morris and Mrs. Morris and ony then did they know of her condition. Mrs. Aston was the daughter of the late Judge and Mrs.

Walter Morris and was a former resident of Granbury. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Worth where funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, 1963 at 4:00 p.m. Interment was in a Ft. Worth cemetery.

Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. LeRita Bragg, a son, Joe Morris Aston a and one grandchild, all of Ft. Worth. Trustee Elections Saturday April 6 Election of trustees of the three independent school districts in the county will be held Saturday. Granbury voters will vote in the school cafetorium.

T. H. Stewart and A. L. Berry, both presently on the board, are the Lipan candidates voters with two will to find elect.

Minor Accident This That By Norma Crawford THE BUTTERFLIES are goue now and memories of a wonderful experience linger (on, that of receiving the Margaret Caskey Award at the Theta Sigma Phi, Celebrity Breakfast Saturday morning, at Ridgelea Country Club in Fort Worth. But the Award is not the only thing I received. The warmth and charm of so many people, members of Theta Sigma Phi, friends at home and in Fort Worth, people whom I've never met who were thoughtful and expressed their good wishes, the opportunity to visit with the delightful Dr. Joyce Brothers and the mechanical model, Gail Del Corral the list is endless and so is my appreciation. Added to it all was the pleasure of having my family share it with Mary Sears of the Star-Telegram presented the award in such a gracious manner and guess what I I cried.

THE RIVERSIDE FARM was full of life from Friday night until Sunday morning. The Schusters from Seagraves and the Hills. from Big Spring were here. The grandchildren enjoyed the warm weather which made it possible for them to play outside. They're all SO cute (that's what Nana' thinks).

J. W. Lewis of Burleson is announcing the opening of an office for practice of dentistry in Nutt Hotel. At the present he plans to be in the office every Wednesday Friday from 9:00 a.m. until p.m.

He will commute from Burleson. Dr. Lewis is a graduate of the Dental Branch of the University of Texas at Houston. He has been in Burleson for two years. Mrs.

Buchanan Died in Uvalde Graveside services were held at the Brushy Cemetery Friday March 29, 1963 for Mrs. Georgia Hettie Ann Buchanan who passed away 11: Uvalde on March 26. Rev. F. Fowler conducted the last rites.

Mrs. Buchanan was born August 11, 1880 and reared in Hood County. Her home was in Leaky in recent years. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are her husband, two brothers, Andrew and Henry Sargent of Granbury; two sisters, Mrs.

Delia Holden of Glen Rose and Mrs. E. S. West of Ft. Worth.

Nephews were pall bearers. Terry Funeral Chapel was ir. charge of arrangements. Meeting to Plan Little League Monday There will be a meeting at the Legion Hall Monday night, April 8 at 8:00 p.m. to plan Little League Activities for this season.

Everyone interested in Little League ball is urged to attend. Ages from PeeWee to Pony League are included. Wednesday Morning A minor accident occured Wednesday morning on N. Houston. W.

T. Sparkman and W. P. Moore, drivers of the cars escaped injury. Damage to the cars was Is confined to the left front fenders of each car.

Majority Against Tax Cut Now The questionnaire which was sent by Congressman Olin Teague to his constituents in recent weeks have been tabulated with interesting results. 3,221 citizens of the 6th Congressional District (which includes Hood County) answered. The results show that 2,140 were opposed to an immediate tax cut for individuals and corporations; 959 were for the cut and 122 failed to answer that question, Question 2 concerned continuing Foreign Aid with appropriate revisions to meet chang-. ing world conditions. 981 were in favor and 2,107 opposed with 133 giving no answer.

2,404 oppose compulsory Federal program of Medical Care for the aged under Social Security; 741 favor the program and 76 had no opinion. Federal Aid to education for construction of schools, paying teachers salaries and expanded scientific training is opposed by 2.608; favored by 549 and 64 did not answer. Non-service-connected pensions should not be increased for 65 year old war veterans in the opinion of 2,645. 477 feel that they should be and 99 are indifferent. 2,554 oppose granting the Department of Agriculture the authority to apply supply-management controls to major crops in return for guaranteed price supports and 521 favor it.

The nation's space program continue to have high priority and support in the 0- pinion of 2,030 while 975 do not agree. The majority answering don't agree with the program of the Kennedy administration in general 2,345 in fact with 722 in agreement.

The Peace Corps does not need expanding in the opinion of 1,862 but almost as many, 1,066, think it shoud. The greatest number who did not answer any question turned out to be this one, 293. Services Thursday March 21 for J. E. Richmond Funeral services for J.

E. (Edd) Richmond of Dallas were held Thursday March 21, 1963 at the Suggs Funeral Chapel with Rev. F. M. Tolbert and The Odd Fellows Lodge No 44 of Dallas officiating.

Mr. Richmond passed away March 20, 1963 in Baylor Hospital in Dallas. Mr. Richmond was born in Jack County April 15, 1892. He lived in Granbury years ago and has many friends here.

He had been a member of The Odd. Fellows Dallas Lodge No. 44 since 1939 and was a Past Grand Master. He is survived by his wife Minnie, two sons Bennie S. Richmond and Edward Ray Richmond both of Dallas, three daughters, Mrs.

Jewel Cordell of Houston, Mrs. Dovie Burns and Mrs. Joe Dean both of Dallas, one brother Jewel Richmond of Granbury, 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas with OFL No. 44 in charge.

Free Immunization for Granbury PreSchool Children All parents of pre-school children who will attend the Granbury School in 1963-64 are urged to take advantage of the free immunization clinic on April 9, 1963 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. only. The doctors will contribute their time and the vaccine will be furnished by the State Department of Health.

You may take your child to Granbury General Hospital or Dr. J. G. Little, M.D. Please remember that the immunizations are free at the above day and hours only.

A conference has been planned for parents of pre-schoolers, their children, teachers, the principal and the nurse to be held April 26 at 2:30 p.m. in the film room of the Elementary School. OUT OF HOSPITAL Winston Randle, who was in Scott and White Hospital in Temple, is at home now and able to get out for a few hours each day. He was quite seriously ill and friends are happy that he is so much improved. Cleveland Elected Mayor, Brock, Combs Elected Members of City Council In the heaviest voting in many years in a city election voters Tuesday elected Hugh Cleveland as mayor.

Mrs. R. L. Brock was re-elected and R. P.

Combs was elected to fill the two places on the city Council. Final tabulation was as feilows: Rev Howell To Speak The Rev. M. B. Howel, pastor of the Polytechnic Methodist Church of Ft.

Worth will be the guest preacher at the Easter Sunrise Services to be conducted at the Reunion Grounds. The Rev. Mr. Howell is a prominent preacher and administrator of the Central Texas Methodist Conference. He has served as District Superintendent of the church's Waxahachie District, and pastor of thee First Methodist Church of Waco prior to being assigned to his present work.

The Easter services are being sponsored again this year by the Hood County Methodist Men's Club. Examination for Rural Carrier At Granbury To Be He'd Van Ash Died Sunday En Route to Hospital Van Ash died Sunday at Merldian en rot.te to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Marlin. He had been hospitalized, there but had returned home. His illness worsened and he was a patient in the Granbury General Hospital until he was notified that .12 could be taken in the VA hospital again. Mr. Ash was born in Merkel July 27, 1887, reared in the Indian Territory and had been a resident of Granbury for 32 Ha was a veteran of years.

World War I and member of the American Legion. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church. Granbury Tuesday, April 2, 1963 at 10 a.m. with the pastor, Rev. W.

F. Fowler officiating. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Vanna Mae Towson of Ft. Worth, a son, Charles Ash of Granbury, a stepson, W.

H. Collier of Granbury; one brother, W. O. Ash of Ft. Worth and one sister.

Mrs. Neil Volkman of Phoenix Arizona and two grandchildren. The body was taken to Terral, Oklahoma for interment, Terry Funeral Chapel in charge. Pall bearers were Albert Porter, Wilson Loper, R. B.

Southside Baptist Rev. Gene Jorgenson will preach during the revival which begins Sunday at the Southside Baptist Church. Services will be held each evening next week at 7:30 p.m. Rev. A.

Applicants must take a written test for this position. They must have resided within the delivery of the office for one year immediately preceding the closing date of the examination. and Mrs. Vance Maloney spoke to members of the night WMS of the First Baptist Church Monday evening. Mrs. Betty Daniels was hostess at the home of Mrs. A.

B. Crawford. The Maloneys were serving as missionaries in China when Word War II broke out and they were evacuated to the Philippines. The WMS program for. April is on the Philippines and members enjoyed hearing the guests tell of the history, the people and the geography of the islands.

Of the 7.000 islands in the group, the largest is Luzon where the Maloneys lived in Manilla and the nearby area. The predominantly Catholic peoples, the many dialects, and the work of the missionaries were vividly described. Mrs. Maloney also brought examples of the hand work of the Filippinos. persons who have passed the age of 70 may be considered only for temporary renewable appointments of one year.

Complete information about the examination requirements and instructions for filing applications may be obtained at the post office for which this examination is being announced.
