Muckler is the daughter of Mrs. N. J. Killough and has many friends in this country where the family has been prominent for years. They live in the Fairview community.

Building Operations Are Underway at Tarleton Stephenville -With excavations for the $75,000. addition to the Tarleton science building begun, building operations totaling more than $115,000 are underway at the John Tarleton College cam.

Jan. 4 (AP) -Announ cement today that the contract for construction of the Possum Kingdom Dam in Palo Pinto Coauty would be let Febuary 24 brought nearer to realization the far-reaching plan to harness the dangerous Brazos River. The Possum Kingdom Dam would be the largest and first of 13 structures along the Brazos which in years past bas wrought destraction to life and property at flood stage in its sweep across Texas. Last year it spectacularly broke through levees at Waco, inundating much of the eastern part of the city. Officials of the Brazos River Conservation and Reclamation District said today bids would be received bere until Feb.

The district itself, embracing 44.600 square miles, is the first ares in the country in Which the control of an entire watershed is being projected. The district and the contract ors are not required to use re lief labor on the project. The job will be let under one large contract. Ambursen Engineering Corporation will serve as designers and supervising engineers but bas been disqualifiled by agreement from bidding on the construction job.

Rainfall Than Same Time Last Year Rainfall for October, November and Decumber this vear, compared with the same three months in 1936 are shown below, 1936 1937 October 3 72 3.75 November- .46 2.75 December- 1 84 3 25 6 02. 9.75 On Nov. 22nd we had a five inch snow equaling .61 inches of rainfall making the total 10 36. Worth for Luncheon At Methodist Hospital Dr. G. N. Lancaster was in Fort Worth on Wednesday of last week to attend a luncheon given at the Methodist Hospital for a hundred visiting doctors from this section of the state. The occasion was the opening of the new psycopathic and obstetrical wards which have recently been completed on formerly used floors of the hospital.

Dr. Charles Harris presided at the luncheon and a number of interesting talks were- made. The visitors were taken on a tour of the hospital and according to Dr. Lancaster, the new. wards are complete in every detail and have greatly improved the facilities of the institutions, Fisher-Thrash Wedding Announced Friday The wedding of, Miss Willie Mate Fisher of Tolar and.

Mr. John R. Thrash of Granbury which took place on December' 7 in Brownwood, was announced by the couple Fridav, Dec, 31. Rev. J.

M. Cooper read the marriage ceremony, at his home in Brownwood. Mrs. Thrash is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Robert Fisher of Tolar where she attends high school, Mr. Thrash is the son of Mrs. Eunice Tarash of Glen Rose, but made his home here for some time with his grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thrash.

Mr. and Dick Morrison and little son were here from Garden City to spend the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. B.

M. Waltball, president, called on DUYham, chairman of the Trades Day Committee, to report on the last Trades Day. Mr. Durbam stated that each Trades Dav was getting larger and he could see that the longer it goes the more people will attend and more interest will be manifested. The members voted to sponsor a County Fair some time this Fall, and Chandler Atkinson, Ben Cook, James Logan and C.

A. Wilkins wens named on the committee. A. banquet will be held on January 28. at which time invitations will be extended to prominent speakers.

Free auction and the farmers of the county are urged to bring their live stock, farming implements or anything they have to sell. More interest in the Trades Day is shown each month according to those in charge and it is the hope of the committee to make Granbury's Trades Day one that will rank favorably with Weatherford, Cleburne, Stephenlle and other towns in thia ritory. Jarrett Goes to Abilene Dr. and Mrs. A. R.

Mack Henslee. .87, who. died December 31, was buried Saturday afternoon in the Fall Creek Cemetery. Rev. 0.

Hightower and Rev. D. L. Turner conducted the services. Mrs.

Henslee was a pioneer of Hood County. She was born in Arkansas, May 6, 1850, but came to Texas as a girl. She was Miss Lacinda Matlock before her mar. riage to Mr. Henslee, who died four years ago, Survivors are two.

daughters, Mrs. C. A. Gee and Mrs. G.

W. Nelson; six sons, Buck of Fort Worth; Jim of Oklahoma; Jess and Cleveland of Granbury; Gilbert of Fall Creek and Arvella of -Merkel; a number of grandchildren, great. grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Pall beares were six grandsons; Charlie Gee, John Nelson. D.

Henslee, Miller Henslee, Lewis Gee and Cecil Johnson. Mrs. W. H. Barker, our Pall Creek correspondent, and a neighbor of the deceased expressed the sentiments of all when she wrote as follows.

The entire community was made sad by the death of. Mrs. Mack Henslee last Friday morning. Aunt Lucindy, as she was lov ingly called bv everyone, had been a resident of this community for. nearly seventy years.

A Christian wife and mother, a kind friend and neighbor, she was loved and respected by all who knew her. Walter Nelson and family of Lamesa, Jim Henslee and wife of Lindsey, Oklahoma, Buck Henslee and family and Mrs. Enoch Hen slee and children of Fort. Worth were the children, grandchildren and great grandchi dren here from out of the couaty. The family have the sympathy of all in their sorrow.

Returned from New Orleans Prank has returned from New Orleans where he went to visit his brother, Art. Harris and wife, who were seriously injured in an explosion Thanks giving. Alarm was felt for both at the time Mr. Barris made the trip, but he reports considerable improvement in their conditions and their many friends hope no further complicatians will arise, his.
