Another light signals her when the person you are calling has answered. Return the receiver to the hook, and again a light tells the operator that the conversation is finished, and your line is open for another call. You do not have to turn the crank to signal the operator when you want to call; nor is a "ring-off" necessary. New Telephones Installers are now replacing present telephones with new "common battery" instruments, which require neither batteries nor a crank for operation. Your telephone service is continuing under the local staff of operators, with Ruth Marie Wilson in charge.

We are proud of the new system and we feel certain that you will be pleased with the improved service it enables us to give youi GRANBURY'S new telephone system went in service at noon last Friday. When you lift your receiver to call, the operator's "Number, please?" now comes to you from the new switchboard at the telephone office. There was no interruption in service when the "cut-over" was made from the old system to the new. Due to careful planning and coordination, the "cut-over" was a matter of a few seconds. Friday morning, crews of operators and workmen were stationed at both the old and the new switchboards.

When the old switchboard was momentarily free of calls, the "cut-over" signal was given. The connections to the old switchboard were broken expert installers "cut" the new flashlight board into service operators slipped into place before the new board, eyes alert for the first flashing signal light and Granbury's new telephone system went into operation.
