Leath said, "I'm looking forward to visiting with the people of Granbury and the rest of Hood County. I want to have a good exchange of views with them on this congressional race." Leath, 46-year-old businessman from Marlin, graduated from the University of Texas where he played on the 1963 Cotton Bowl Championship team. After serving in the Army, Leath taught school and coached two years before entering private business.

In 1972, Leath took a two-year leave of absence from his business to serve as a special assistant to Congressman W.R. Poage. He was born in Abby Bend of Hood County on Oct. 13, 1914. Mr. Hayworth is survived by wife Ambra and four children: W.L. and John D.

Hayworth of Melba; Claudy and Ruth Westfall. There are 17 grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Marcus B. Hayworth and sisters Opal Watts, Vada Goswick, La Velle Reid, Vera Estes, Betty Springer and LaRue Hassler. Services were held Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.

He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Hayworth. Jerry Sink Jerry E.

Sink of Granbury died Feb. 20 in Granbury. He' was 63 years old. born Sept. 8, 1914, in 1 Roanoke, Va.

377 Cresssa, Ta. 396-4321 Junior High Members Compete In UIL Meet The Granbury Junior High School band ensemable rated in the top two of the recent UIL Solo and Ensemble contest held in Brownwood. This is the second year the middle schools have been able to participate said David Reas, director and instructor for the musical organization. Out of. 35 middle schools participating in the concert, Granbury sent some 40 students to participate.

This was more students per school than any other school entered, Reas said. He pointed out that the students will attend their next competition on March 16 at Stephenville High School. The program will be concert and sight reading for the participatseasons ing students. Granbury will be heard at 9:30 a.m. the on that Thursday.

Drum ensemble players are Guy Grissom, Scott Loftin, Terry Porter and Brian Erickson. Listed on Woodwinds are Mike Ward, Heir Gebhardt and Sarah Had ley. Clarinet trio is Janic Taylor, Robin Barnes an Rachel Flores. Sax quarte is Julie Davis, Darl Shugart, Penny Moor and Wesley Wilson. Students in the compe tition are given grades one to five for thei performances with "'one' being top credit.

Brown Sherman T. Brown died Monday in Granbury. He was a former Glen Rose resident: He was born May 8, 1901 in Hartshorn, Okla. He was 76 years old. Mr.

Brown is survived by his wife Nevida of Cleburne, three daughters, Mrs. Norma Smith, Miss Shirley Brown and Miss Linda Brown of Oklahoma City; one son, James Brown of Granbury and one brother, Lee Brown of Glen Rose. Services were held Wednesday at Nubbin Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Bill Sanders officiated.

Martin's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Bobby Joe Hooks Bobby Joe Hooks, brother of Everett Hooks, passed away Thursday, Feb. 23. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25 at" the Jack Carswell Funeral Home in Houston.

Graveside services are set for 5:30 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Edgewood, Texas.
